Behavior Change
Coaching Group
for Individuals with an Eating
Disorder
|
|
|
Convenient, cost effective, adjunctive treatment
support for patients already engaged in individual treatment for an eating
disorder, but who need an additional contact to support goals of the
therapy.
 |
Group will focus on specific
targets for behavior change |
 |
Group will convene by telephone
conference call once each week. |
 |
Participants will report progress
on identified goals, problem solve with other participants, and commit to
goals for the coming week. |
 |
Group is led by Brock Hansen, LCSW
with over 25 years of experience in treatment of eating disorders. |
 |
Closed
group listserve will be created for group members to allow reporting
on progress and supportive chat among group members rather than
relying on feedback in an open chat room. |
 |
Behavioral goals will be
coordinated with each participant’s individual therapist and monthly
email reports can be sent to the therapist. |
 |
Fees are $30 per weekly session
with a 3 month minimum commitment |
 | Participants
are responsible for their own long distance charges for calling in to
a central bridge line for conference call meetings. |
Advantages of Telephone
Coaching
for Behavior Change
 |
Attend from comfort of your own
home, or even when you are traveling. |
 |
Second therapeutic contact per week
reinforces behavior change goals. |
 |
Group feedback from others working
on similar issues and goals. |
 |
Privacy, confidentiality, and
comfort enhanced by telephone format. |
Advantages for Therapists
 | Participants in the group will be strongly
encouraged to submit weekly reports prior to the group meeting
summarizing behavioral goals, successes, and special challenges they
want to focus on in group. These will be forwarded to the
participant's therapist (assuming participant has given permission).
|
 | Weekly reports will be supplemented by brief notes on the
participant's use of group when there is any significant development
for that participant.
